About Horsemen's United Association

Horsemen's United Association was founded more than 40 years ago to protect non-profit horse clubs from lawsuits. We are not an insurance company, but a group of non-profit clubs. When your club becomes a member of Horsemen's United Association, our liability coverage extends to your scheduled events. We negotiate the best coverage for a wide range of equine activities. Realizing that many small clubs operate on a shoestring, we made the decision to cover the cost of any deductibles incurred by our members. That's right--your club pays no deductible in the event of a claim. Also, there is no limit to the number of covered activities your club may have in a year, and no per-event fees.

As part of our commitment to our clubs, we encourage safe practices that keep our members and participants safe and reduce the risk of lawsuits. Our newsletter includes information and resources to keep our clubs informed about safety and liability issues.

We are not an insurance company. Our purpose is not to sell you insurance but to give your club stability and peace of mind year after year. We want you to enjoy equestrian sports without worrying about the costly effects of lawsuits. We currently provide our members with three membership levels.

  • Option A provides coverage for up to $500,000 per occurrence/$500,000 aggregate bodily injury and property damage liability
  • Option B provides $1,000,000 per occurrence/$2,000,000 aggregate bodily injury and property damage liability
